Something for the multi sailors

With the multi's getting more and more exposure with the America's Cup now turning to raft boats, check out this action from the extreme 40's.

TP52's to stay, GP42 out, and Soto 40 in for the next Med Cup.

With the GP42's interest lacking far behind the TP's, the Soto 40 one design will be in for next year. These boats are starting to pop up everywhere. Could we see them begin to replace Australia's ageing Sydney 38 fleet? Let's hope so...

And to see why the TP's still reign supreme for the top echelon of yacht racing check out this awesome clip.

Why bother?

After reading about this extreme 25, they don't really seems that extreme to me. What's with having a symmetrical pole? You can hardly call it a sportsboat with a pole?
For sailors coming from true Ausssie/Kiwi sportsboats (Thompson/Magic/Sports 8), there really is nothing extreme about them.... But I don't think 'dull, dated 25' would really work from a marketing perspective?

One thing must be said. Australia and New Zealand sportsboat sailor's need a true one design fleet!

SB3's are a bit tame for the average sportsboat yachtie, Thompson's simply aren't true one design and Sports 8 are a tad expensive.

SB3's have worked in the UK because they look modern compared to their red wings and Etchell's, but I really just don't think they are going to work over here... I must admit though, SB3's really are great fleet racing.

America's Cup

It's looking like we will be seeing 70+ footers flying around on San Francisco harbour for the next America's Cup Challenge. Expect to see 20 to 30 of windspeed with steep chop with the winged monsters flying along around doing 30-40+ knots. What a spactacle!

Welcome!

Well hello! This is the first of many blogs to come about what is happening in and around the aussie sailing scene. It's not going to be cut and pastes straight out of the standard news releases....
